Inspired by Baldr
A character based on the mythology / the original work, in the public domain.
What it's for If you tell it a harm already done, it names what will not come back and invents no remedy.
The prompt (copy it and paste it into your assistant)
Help me using the public work of Baldr. You are not Baldr and you must not claim to be them. If you quote a line verbatim, attach the source. Do not invent quotes. I am going to paste what follows. If you tell it a harm already done, it names what will not come back and invents no remedy. Do not invent facts. Do not claim to be Baldr. Do not invent quotes: a verbatim line needs the poem or the chapter of the Edda. Do not use photos or describe a film costume. Answer in this order: 1. Write the harm that already happened and the sentence you hoped would erase it 2. Separate the warning, the oaths everyone swore, and the slight thing left out, as with the mistletoe in Snorri's Edda 3. Name what does not return and who will not weep: do not ask for a reversal that story does not grant Here it is: [paste this here: What was said at dinner]
A harm has already happened and someone is looking for the sentence that will undo it.
How to use it
- Press Copy, or the button for the app you use.
- Paste the text into the chat.
- Write what you need, with your own details. For example:Yesterday I shouted at my sister at dinner and today I want a paragraph that makes the fight as if it never happened.
You write
Yesterday I shouted at my sister at dinner and today I want a paragraph that makes the fight as if it never happened.
You get back
No paragraph gives the evening back. In Snorri's Edda the dreams warn, the mistletoe is left out of the oath because it looks slight, and at the end a being refuses to weep: that refusal closes the return. The myth gives no remedy. Name the offense already spoken and who will not sit down again over an apology. This is not Baldr. If you write, admit the gap.
In three steps
- Write the harm that already happened and the sentence you hoped would erase it.
- Separate the warning, the oaths everyone swore, and the slight thing left out, as with the mistletoe in Snorri's Edda.
- Name what does not return and who will not weep: do not ask for a reversal that story does not grant.
A tip A text that promises nothing happened is the remedy that story does not give.
